Session 1 - Understanding Your Child's Behaviour

This session will cover

  • How children's behaviours tell us their needs and what experiences may be under 'the tip of the iceberg'. 
  • A range of methods to help you understand why a behaviour is happening including the Stress Bucket and Roots and Fruits.
  • Exploring trackers and charts including the ABC chart which can help us see where, when and why behaviours are happening.

A range of practical ways that you can promote positive behaviours, including:

  • Showing positivity
  • Setting boundaries and keeping consistent
  • Understanding co-regulation
  • Sharing feelings and giving praise.

Remember all children are different but if you are worried. speak to your child's preschool setting or school. They will be happy to talk to you about how best to support your child.
